Current COVID-19 vaccine distribution for the state of Florida
It’s great to know that the demand for the Covid-19 vaccines in the state of Florida is high. To date, according to the CDC statewide over 3.6 million Floridians are fully vaccinated. This means they have received two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one Johnson and Johnson dose. This number will increase as the days go on. Keep reading to find out who is eligible for the vaccine and where to get the vaccine in Florida.
Who is currently eligible for the COVID-19 Vaccine in the state of Florida?
The criteria for those who are eligible for the vaccine will continue to change in the upcoming weeks. Currently, in Florida, you are eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine if you are:
– 65 years or older.
– age 16 and older with a signed Determination of Extreme Vulnerability Form.
– a healthcare worker with direct patient contact.
– a resident or staff of long-term care facilities.
– a law enforcement officer and firefighter 50 years and older.
– a teacher 50 years and older.
Where can you get the vaccine?
In addition to hospitals, doctor’s offices, and departments of health, there are numerous state-run sites and retail pharmacy locations across the state offering the vaccine. Retailers include neighborhood Publix, CVS, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Winn- Dixie. So in order to increase Covid-19 vaccine access in Florida, four new Federal Emergency Management Agency ( FEMA) vaccine sites opened last week. These sites are in Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Miami. They will be able to vaccinate up to 3,000 people each day.
